Physio Alive are pleased to offer real time ultrasound assessments
Real time ultrasound (RTUS) imaging allows us to view the stabilising muscles around the lumbar spine, hips and pelvis and provides an accurate assessment of the quality, timing and endurance of the muscle contractions. It also allows us to assess some aspects of pelvic floor muscle function. Since you can also view the image and see the muscles contract, RTUS provides important feedback on how well you are performing your exercises and is a powerful teaching tool.
Real time ultrasound is a useful tool for everybody, as correctly functioning stabilising (or ‘core’) muscles are important for recovery after injury, for managing conditions and improving posture, as well as for maximizing sporting performance and prevention of future problems or injuries.
RTUS assessments can be used as part of any rehabilitation program, and are commonly offered as a part of a Pilates training regime.
