Physio Alive’s Pinc Program (formerly Pink Pilates) is supervised by Lauren Locke who is a qualified Pinc Program rehabilitation physiotherapist. The Pinc Program is dedicated to improving the quality of life and wellbeing of women diagnosed with cancer. It aims to help women regain their strength, fitness and flexibility, decrease fatigue, improve body confidence and include exercise in their lives.
The program is individually tailored to each woman, but is typically made up of 5-10 individually designed and delivered treatment sessions with your physio, and may include exercise prescription, hands on treatment, massage and relaxation/breathing strategies. Many women then go on to join small group equipment or mat based Pilates classes or hydrotherapy to continue their rehabilitation.
These Pinc sessions can be funded in a variety of ways. Private health insurance rebates apply for all sessions and classes, Medicare’s EPC program (via a GP) can also contribute to the cost of the program- (please speak to our staff for more information), loved ones of participants can ’gift’ sessions or classes and finally Physio Alive, with the help of our wonderful patients and local community run fundraising efforts to contribute to the cost of the program. We currently offer $200 for each participant to use as they wish towards sessions and classes. Our last event in October 2013 raised nearly $2500, with more fundraising ideas in the pipeline. If you or someone you care about could benefit from this wonderful program, call us to discuss your options and visit www.pincandsteel.com for more information.
The fabulous ‘Team Pinc’ at the Hardy’s McLaren Vale half marathon/fun run in October 2013. Our team of 26 staff, patients, families and friends participated in the 5km, 10km and 21.1 km events and raised over $2500 for the Pinc Program.
